Orphanage visit

Hello all, Ba Ba here. That's dad for all you westerner's. We had quite the eventful day today. We went to visit Lottie's orphanage in the city of Donguann. It is about 1 1/2 hours from where we are staying. On the drive over we saw many factories. Our guide tells us that the Donguann area is where a lot of the items in Walmart are made. It is still hard for me to grasp just how many people live in this area of China and how crowded it is. One high-rise aparment building after another as far as the eye can see.
Anyways, Lottie's orphanage was quite large, we were told that around 800 orphans live there, and 90% of them are special needs children. It gives me mixed feelings about visiting the orphanage. On one hand I am sad to see all the little ones there with no family. On the other hand I am happy to know that they all have food and a roof over their heads. The orphanage is by no means a 5-star place, but the necessities are met. Steel cribs lined up one right after the next. We did get to meet a few of Lottie's playmates and nannies. They were all very happy to see Kim, Lottie, and myself. I could see in the nannies eyes that they were happy for Lottie to find a home with two loving parents, but maybe I am a little biased. We took pictures for us and for some other adoptive families. Kim and I want to keep these picture for the future so Lottie has some way of knowing where she came from. The hardest part was when we left. We stopped just outside the gate to the orphanage. This was where Lottie was found when she was only 2-days old. It was a tearful moment for us. After a few hugs and tickles we were in the van and on our way back to Guangzhou. We had a nice walk around the island this afternoon. Lottie is getting so much better at walking. Kim and I will each grab a hand and walk with her. She is starting to warm up to good ole dad which makes me very happy! Having a little trouble getting her to go to sleep at night. Kim will lay with her in bed untill she finally cries herself to sleep.
Tomorrow we go to visit a Buddaist Temple. Sort of an odd thing to do on Christmas eve don't ya think?? Oh well.

  1. Hi Kim!

So glad that you got to make it to the CWI! It breaks my heart to hear of the massive amounts of special needs children that are waiting to be adopted for their forever families. I was just asking Kelly today if we could adopt two
that didn't go over to big. Looks like Lottie is coming out of her shell more everyday. So wonderful to see!! Where you able to see our Wu Hui? My heart just aches for her!!

    Have a great night!

    Hugs,
