A quick post to let you all know that we made it to China OK. We arrived in Hong Kong last night around 8:00 PM and it took quite awhile to get through Customs. We had a little trouble figuring out how to get to our hotel via the shuttle bus but once we figured it out we were ok. I already forgot about not drinking the water however Hong Kong water must be ok as I did not get sick!! Thank goodness. I told Matt it was his job to help me remember here in Guangzhou. So the buffet at the Novotel in Hong Kong was wonderful!!! So much to choose from it was amazing. I even had Chinese Noodles, a spring roll, and something that looked like cooked sushi! It was yummy. We took a cab to the train station in Hung Hom and then took the train to Guangzhou. I experienced my first squatty potty on the train station and got into a little trouble. I did not realize but I used the bathroom right after the stewardess cleaned the bathroom. The train station waste goes out onto the tracks and I was using the bathroom right as we stopped in Guangzhou!! Oops I guess my urine went right out where it was not suppose to!!! The lady kept knocking on the restroom the entire time I was using it!! too funny!
So at the train station we got on the wild ride of the taxi drive to the hotel. Goodness it was a crazy drive!!!! Buses and bicycles were inches from a collision with our taxi, we knew this is how it would be but I don't think you can ever prepare yourself. So we got to the hotel and it was so crowded waiting for check in. We were waiting and waiting and finally a bell boy came up to us and said let us take you to the executive lounge to check in faster! He saw the priority rewards card for the Holiday Inn in my hand. My brother in law Jeremy let us use some of his travel points for the hotel. Wow we have gotten such star treatment since then. Thanks Jeremy and Chris!!!
So we are in the executive lounge waiting for our room to be cleaned. We have access to endless fruit, drinks, and desserts! Its very calm and quiet in the lounge however that is not the story outside. The streets of Guangzhou are packed with street vendors for shopping. I think we are going to venture out to that in a bit.
We are meeting with a business friend of my brother-in-law's tomorrow night for dinner. Can't wait. 4more days till we meet Lottie!! I will try and post each day. Pics to come tomorrow.

Hi Friends, we spent a lot of time in that area even though our hotel was on the island. I bought lots of 'fake' Converse shoes in different colors at a little store right near there.
ReplyDeleteHave fun! And don't forget to visit the 'pet' area and 'herbal medicine' area. Very interesting. It might the only time you see a dried lizard on a stick for medicinal purposes! :o)
Hi Steph! We did go to the pet area!! One of our fav. places. So cute! We are a little overwhelmed with the vendors so we just looked today. I think we will try to actually shop tomorrow. Have not seen the herbel area!! :) Will check that out too!
